Production Design

This was some of the most fun we’ve had on set. We created a derelict Witch’s Den in an ‘abandoned’ warehouse, facilitated a cast iron tub filled with faux blood, and engineered a functional corpse hoisting rig to create a blood faucet. The warehouse provided excellent existing looks - we simply reshuffled found assets on set. This allowed us to spend our time, budget, and attentions of the installation elements we had. The Witch’s Den was created with a fresh twin bed (for filmmaker safety), a giant bird cage to keep her Familiars in, and an Altar/Vanity. This area was naturally flooded, but we added/facilitated cinematic ripples throughout. Next, and in a completely separate part of the building, was the Blood Tub configuration. We imported a watertight and ‘fresh’ cast iron tub to set and positioned it where needed. Finally, and most importantly, was our Blood Faucet. A functional installation that hoisted our corpse dummy into the air on a tarp. We added gallons of faux blood to a pocket in the tarp and hoisted the assembly with Talent and off-screen hands. It went up smoothly and dispensed our blood voluptuously. Talent then approached the tub and climbed into mixture. Unfortunately, the time of season meant that everything was cold - therefore, we added several fishtank heaters to the liquid concoction (making sure to remove the component before humans came into contact with the liquid). Many fun times and stories were had between the shots on this project. It will remain one of the fondest project memories.

An urban explorer disturbs the lair of a youth-consuming witch in this music video for Erei Cross and their song ‘Here I am far away’.
